In MN we love hops. If you love hops and come to the store today, you will be very well rewarded. I'm not kidding.
Hop Henge, in the words of Deschutes, "is our annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic."
Sounds great to me! I've loved this beer in the past and I'm sure I'll love it this time around, too. 8.5% ABV, 95 IBU's.
See you soon - Bryan
At the Firkins today we're going to be opening up beer a little early for sampling. Starting at 4 we will be sampling 5 o'Clock Shadow from Grand Teton, a double black lager. Meet Chris from Grand Teton and ask him questions about the new plans they have for their cellar program. See you soon! -Bryan
This is a very special treat. Dark Island Reserve is a dark ale aged in single malt whisky barrels. It is legendary among beer geeks and the last time it was seen in MN was almost three years ago. This is a sipping beer in the most extreme sense, with dark chocolate, fig, and date flavors melding with vanilla, spice, and bitter orange aromas. It is a big beer and measures at 10% ABV. This is one of the most exquiste and exclusive beers that will ever grace your glass. Only 2933 bottles were made.
As you're sipping this, go to Google Maps and look up Orkney Island, Scotland. It is a miracle it gets here.
It was also bottled on 11-11-11. Probably at 11:11:11am by Nigel Tufnel, but I can't verify that. Epic.
See you soon - Bryan.
We will be joined by our friends Dan and Brad from Lift Bridge Brewing tonight to re-release their brand in bottles! It has been quite the endeavor to get their Stillwater, MN brewery up and running. We are very impressed by the hard work and dedication to get their product back on our shelves. Cheers to everyone at Lift Bridge! Come by tonight to celebrate this momentous event with us! -Michael
