    Just Landed: Beerhive Tripel with Ginger from New Holland!

    Fresh off he truck is New Holland's most recent addition to their High Gravity Series, the Beerhive Tripel. Here's what they have to say about it: "Little John's local bees create a wildflower honey which lends a sweet, earthy complexity to this traditional style beer. A snap of ginger provides a refreshing finish. Pairings: fresh veggies, soft-ripened cheese, fruit of late summer, custards & biscuits." It weighs in at a respectable 8.47%. Sounds tasty!     Super Rare Cantillon shipment just landed

    Cantillon is one of the oldest Lambic breweries to still survive in Brussels. They make Lambics the old way. Unsweetened and tart, these are relics from a time gone by. Yesterday we received three fresh cases: Cantillon Kiek, Iris and Rose de Gambrinus. We are only able to get these beers maybe once or twice a year and they don't stick around long.     Full Time Job Opening at The Firkins!

    Dan Stavig is leaving us, he has accepted an assistant brewers position at Brau Brothers. If you knew Dan this will surely not surprise you as his beer and brewing knowledge was almost prodigious! We will miss him here at the Firkins and we wish him all the best for what I'm sure will be a very bright future as a professional brewer.

    This means we are looking for a full time salesperson here at the Firkins!

    Odell Woodcut #4 is In!

    This is a very special Oak Aged beer from Odell. It is super limited. We did not get very much so we are going to have to limit it to ONE bottle per person. It's not cheap either so be warned...

    Here's how Odell's describes it:

    "In the fall of 2007, we received our first shipment of oak barrels from Canton Cooperage in Kentucky. The barrels, cut from new American oak, were specifically crafted with a medium toast to give beer added flavor and depth. The Woodcut series of barrel-aged beers was born. Woodcut offerings are crafted with select hops and malted barley on our pilot brewing system. After fermentation, the beer is chilled and then transferred to the oak barrels for aging. As the beer ages, the wood imparts unique and complex flavors. Brewers evaluate various barrel blends, carefully selecting the blend to bottle. Woodcut ales are then bottled conditioned in 750ml Belgian-style bottles with a cork-and-cage finish."
