Dortmunder Export-style Lager
A hearty lager style originating in the early 19th-century in the Ruhr District of northern Germany. As a famous region for coal and steel, the workers of the area wanted a heartier draught than the normal Pils or Helles. Brewers came up with the Dortmunder Export, or just Export. As malty as a Helles and a deeper shade of gold to boot, the Dortmunder has a heftier mouthfeel and alcohol percentage than the other German pale lagers. A decent hop bitterness is also present, though not quite as much as the German Pilsner.Seldom seen style.
